Project Success: Road Remediation at Bailup Private Estate, Wooroloo
Ground Civil is pleased to announce the successful completion of the road repair and reconstruction project at Bailup Private Estate in Wooroloo. Working as the engineering advisor in consultation with Concity, we are proud to report that the project was delivered on time and within budget.
The Engineering Challenge
The roadway at Wooroloo faced significant distress due to a reactive clay subgrade and invasive root growth from adjacent vegetation, which contributed to ongoing pavement failures. These conditions required a robust technical solution to ensure long-term stability and surface integrity.
Implementing Proposal 1: The As-Designed Solution
After careful evaluation, Proposal 1 was adopted and implemented with perfect results. This comprehensive engineering approach focused on direct interception of the underlying causes of road distress:
Deep Trenching & Root Barriers: We oversaw the excavation of continuous trenches, approximately 1.5m deep, along each side of the road.
Specialized Installation: A high-quality, commercial-grade root barrier was installed to block root growth and resist soil pressures.
Stabilized Backfill: Trenches were filled with a low cement sand mix to ensure effective compaction and minimal displacement.
Pavement Rehabilitation: The existing deteriorated surface was milled and replaced with a high-performance 50mm black asphalt overlay.
Quality and Performance
By adhering to the original engineering design intent, this method has successfully minimized future heave and crack recurrence. The project utilized standard industry practices and rigorous in-process compaction and density testing to ensure the highest infrastructure standards were met.
A Successful Collaboration
The seamless delivery of this project highlights the effective partnership between Ground Civil and Concity. Our combined expertise provided a technically sound, durable, and cost-effective upgrade for the Wooroloo community.
